Aluminium Sheet Weight Calculator
Weight of an aluminium sheet or plate from its length, width, thickness and alloy — per sheet, per m² and for the whole batch. Updates as you type.
How aluminium sheet weight is calculated
The weight of a flat sheet or plate is simply its volume times the material density:
Weight = length × width × thickness × density
Aluminium's density is about 2700 kg/m³ (2.70 g/cm³), so with length and width in metres and thickness in millimetres, the kilograms come out as length(m) × width(m) × thickness(mm) × 2.70. The exact figure shifts a little by alloy — 5000-series (magnesium) sheet is slightly lighter, 3000-series slightly heavier — so pick the alloy above or enter a custom density. For rolled coil rather than cut sheet, use the roll weight calculator; for plastics, the plastic sheet weight calculator.
FAQ
How do you calculate the weight of an aluminium sheet?
Weight = length × width × thickness × density, with aluminium at about 2700 kg/m³. Keep units consistent.
What is the density of aluminium?
About 2700 kg/m³ (2.70 g/cm³) for pure and most common alloys; 5000-series ≈ 2660, 3000-series ≈ 2730. Steel is about 7850 kg/m³.
