Volumetric Weight Calculator
Work out the chargeable weight a carrier will bill — the greater of your actual weight and the volumetric (dimensional) weight. Updates as you type.
How volumetric weight works
Light but bulky freight takes up space a carrier can't sell to anyone else, so they bill by size, not just mass. Volumetric weight = (length × width × height in cm) ÷ divisor. The price is based on the chargeable weight: whichever is greater, your actual weight or the volumetric weight. Reducing box size — or the void inside it — is often the fastest way to cut a freight bill.
Volumetric weight FAQ
How is volumetric weight calculated?
Length × width × height (cm) ÷ divisor. Courier/road commonly use 5000, air uses 6000. Chargeable weight = the greater of actual and volumetric.
What divisor should I use?
Courier/express 5000, IATA air 6000, some road/LTL 3000–4000. Confirm it in your carrier's tariff.
