Boxes per Pallet Calculator

How many boxes fit a pallet — boxes per layer, layers and total. Updates as you type. Need weight and a diagram too? Use the full pallet calculator.

Existing pallet example: a 1200 × 800 mm pallet holds 48 cartons of 400 × 300 × 250 mm at 1500 mm goods height, using 8 cartons per layer and 6 layers.

How boxes per pallet is worked out

Boxes per layer = the better of the two footprint orientations on the pallet. Layers = max load height ÷ box height (rounded down). Total = boxes per layer × layers. It assumes one box size in a uniform block; the full pallet calculator adds weight limits and an arrangement diagram.

Boxes per pallet questions

How many boxes can fit on a pallet?

48 cartons fit in the existing example using a 1200 × 800 mm pallet, 400 × 300 × 250 mm cartons and 1500 mm goods height. The calculator compares uniform carton orientations and multiplies the best layer count by whole layers. Actual capacity still depends on stacking strength and the receiving specification.

  1. Measure the outside length, width and height of the packed carton.
  2. Select the receiving pallet footprint and goods-height limit.
  3. Compare cartons per layer, complete layers and the total; check strength and weight separately.

How many cartons fit in one pallet layer?

The cartons per layer result is the better of the calculator's uniform footprint orientations. It uses the outside carton length and width against the pallet dimensions, rounding each row count down. This is a geometric estimate for one carton size; it does not optimise mixed patterns or certify the load's stability.

How do I calculate the total boxes per pallet?

Multiply boxes per layer by the number of complete layers allowed by your goods-height limit. Enter the outside dimensions of the packed carton and the receiving pallet's footprint. This simpler tool applies a height limit; use the full pallet calculator when pallet tare, gross weight limits and an arrangement diagram are needed.
