Masterbatch Calculator
Density-adjusted additivation — convert between mass % and volume % and estimate blend density — plus the full masterbatch tool suite below.
Density-adjusted additivation
Suppliers dose masterbatch by mass, but volumetric feeders and some recipes work in volume. With different densities the two differ: mass fraction w gives specific volumes w/ρ, so volume % MB = (w/ρ_MB) / (w/ρ_MB + (1−w)/ρ_base), and the blend density is 1 / (w/ρ_MB + (1−w)/ρ_base). Estimated assuming additive volumes and no contraction on mixing.
Example: 3 wt% of a 1.20 g/cm³ masterbatch in 0.920 g/cm³ PE → mass 3.0%, volume ≈ 2.32%, blend density ≈ 0.926 g/cm³.
The masterbatch suite
All of these share the same calculation engine (/tools/mb-engine.js) so the numbers never disagree between tools:
Densities and rates are user-entered planning values; MatQuo does not recommend addition levels.
